Associate Professor Alison Bartlett

Alison joined Women's Studies in 2005 after ten years at the University of Southern Queensland, and at James Cook University of North Queensland prior to that.
Her research has centred on theories of corporeality, gendered subjectivity, media and cultural discourses of women's sexuality. Current work is on second-wave feminist activism and the ways in which it is remembered. A UWA Research Grant is enabling research into the Pine Gap Women's Peace Camp, as part of the women's peace movement in 1983.

Key publications include:
Breastwork: rethinking breastfeeding (UNSW Press 2005)
Jamming the Machinery: contemporary Australian women's writing (ASAL 1998)
Postgraduate Research Supervision: Transformative R/Elations Ed. with Gina Mercer (Peter Lang 2001)
Australian Literature and the Public Sphere Ed. with Robert Dixon and Christopher Lee (ASAL 1999).

Research Projects:
Australian Feminist Memory Project
Remembering Pine Gap Women's Peace Camp
Breastwork: breastfeeding bodies in postmodernity
