Associate Professor Delys Bird, Senior Honorary Fellow

Delys Bird established the Centre for Women's Studies, as well as the first Women's Studies units at UWA in the 1980s. Her important critical work on Australian and feminist writing has been unstinting and highly influential, and her editing includes the landmark volumes: Future Imaginings: sexualities and gender in the new millenium; Authority and Influence: Australian literary criticism 1950-2000; Katherine Susannah Pritchard: stories, journalism and essays; CanonOzities; the making of literary reputations in Australia; Killing Women: rewriting detective fiction; Whose Place? a study of Sally Morgan's My Place; Elizabeth Jolly: new critical essays. She is the founding editor of Outskirts, the first Australian feminist online journal, and has edited Westerly since 1989.
