Australian Feminist Memory Project

Cultures of Activism 1970-1990

In this project Margaret Henderson (UQ) and Alison Bartlett (UWA) have been contracted by the National Museum of Australia to construct a list of up to 40 objects that might be considered by the NMA as a collection to represent Australian feminist activism between 1970-1990.

We have so far been consulting widely about

• what objects might be considered worthy as part of a national collection?
• what events, issues, places and people ought to be represented?
• how might they be represented?
• what might a feminist exhibition look like?
