Graduate Coursework Programs

The Graduate Diploma in Arts and the Graduate Certificate in Arts are offered by the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, and enable students to complete a major sequence of units, including the suite of Women's Studies units. The UWA Handbook outlines the degree.

The Women's Studies major includes 4 compulsory units:
Days of Our Lives: Gender in Australia
Text and Gender
Self.net: Identity in the Digital Age
Sex Bodies Spaces: Gender and Pop Culture
and a selection of crosslisted units that include:
The Story of My Life: Textual Selves
Gender Relations in Asia
Gender & Sexuality in History
Managing Diversity

There are other units which are not formally crosslisted but which can count toward a women's studies major on request.
All units are worth 6 points.

The program is structured so that students may exit after one semester with a Graduate Certificate in Arts, or after two semesters with a Graduate Diploma in Arts.

The Graduate Diploma requires a minimum of 48 points and a maximum of 60 points. The Graduate Diploma must be taken over not less than one academic year and not more than 4.
The Graduate Certificate requires a minimum of 24 points and a maximum of 30 points. It must be taken over not less than one semester and not more than 2 academic years.
