Submissions

Outskirts welcomes submissions from all feminist researchers; in particular we encourage postgraduate researchers to publish with Outskirts.

Outskirts publishes scholarly feminist articles of 5000-7000 words that are fully refereed and commentaries on feminist projects, issues or teaching of around 3000 words which are not refereed.

Outskirts is published in May and November of each year, but will accept submissions continuously throughout the year.

To make a submission, please email your document to the address below.

Copyright

By submitting work for publication in Outskirts, the author or contributor warrants that they own the copyright in the work they are submitting, or have permission from any relevant copyright owner to publish in Outskirts.

Authors retain copyright in their work and may republish their work in other forms.

Outskirts is committed to ensuring the widest possible audience for its published works and has sublicensing arrangements with other publishers. By submitting to Outskirts authors acknowledge that their work may be distributed to other publishers, electronic databases, indexes and collection companies.

Style Guide

In order to ensure the professionalism of the journal and to reduce the labour of uploading documents, it is vital that final submissions adhere to the following format:

Title

Author

Text: with minimal formatting as it will all be lost in the transfer to the web, and have to be redone manually. Please use in-text referencing; no endnotes or footnotes for referencing. If notes are vital they should be kept to an absolute minimum (no more than 3) as these dramatically intensify labour commitments.

Images: should be attached in a separate file, preferably 72dpi for optimum web access (but we can convert these if you cannot).

References: alphabetical by surname, with a space between each entry, left hand margin only with no indentations. MLA style is preferred but any reasonable style will be accepted providing it is consistent and shows adequate detail (including page numbers).

Bio: please send a brief biography of 3-4 lines.

Refereeing

Outskirts: feminisms along the edge is a fully refereed online journal. It is listed in Urlich's Periodical Directory. ISSN 1445-0445
